Urgent / emergency consultations when the centre is open

We are happy to offer same day / emergency consultations for serious problems that cannot await a formal appointment.

These may be short appointments at the end of normal surgery. They will usually be with your own doctor if he or she is available; otherwise they will be with the duty doctor. During an emergency consultation, limited time may render it impossible to thoroughly address your problem.

(If general practice is to succeed and survive it needs your help and cooperation – please do not seek an emergency appointment unless you are convinced you need one. We can generally offer an appointment within 48 hours).

Emergencies when the medical centre is closed

The centre will be closed  6.30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday to Friday and all Saturday and Sunday. During these periods calls will be taken by The Dorset Emergency Care service Tel.  0845 600 1013

Consultations may be in the form of telephone advice, treatment centre consultation or, if necessary, a home visit.  Treatment centres are at Bournemouth and Poole hospitals and are thus easy to access.

Always phone the medical centre first to check the number to ring for help - depending on the time of day.
