We are able to provide an extended range of tests including blood tests, ECG, lung function tests and cervical smears.

Samples sent to hospital may take more than one week before all results are available;  X-Ray reports often take more than two weeks

Where and when to have your blood tests

If you have had a recall letter for Diabetes, Hypertension or Cardiac review, which will have an attached blood test form in the new printed format, the blood sample needs to be taken at the medical centre as other information will be gathered at the time of the test.

Having blood taken at The medical Centre

If you need a blood test at the medical centre and have a blood test form please ring 756296 An automated computerised system will make you an appointment. The computer will ask you to key in your date of birth and telephone number on the telephone keypad.

You will be able to choose any weekday morning except Thursday.

When you come for the test please check in on one of the computer screens by reception and take a seat by room 1.

You will not be able to make an appointment at the desk or by telephoning a receptionist.

Obtaining the results of tests

If you have a test your doctor or nurse will give you instructions as to follow-up.

  • Often a routine appointment will be made to review the medical condition as well as give the results.
  • Your doctor will see the result of all blood tests arranged by the Medical Centre and will mark some results for further action by the reception team.  This may include permission for staff to give the result over the phone. We may want to contact you about a result so it is imperative that we have your correct address and phone number
  • If your doctor does not want the result given over the phone and you want to discuss it, the reception team will make a telephone appointment for you
  • If the test has been arranged by a hospital doctor the result goes to that doctor.  We may not be sent a copy.
  • If you have any doubts and have not received a result you believe to be important please chase it up.
